Terminator: Dark Fate Trailer

The trailer for the new Terminator movie dropped a few days ago and holy shit did it make quite an impression. Now whether it’s good or bad will depend on a number of factors. The new film is set as a reboot of the Terminator franchise acting as a direct sequel to The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day and disregarding the other films completely.

The film is set more than two decades after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, where Sarah Connor sets out to protect a young woman named Dani Ramos and her friends as a liquid metal Terminator sent from the future attempts to terminate them. It’s a fairly simple concept and one the series tends to repeat each film. The film will be directed by Tim Miller who has directed the 2016 Deadpool film.

The trailer opens up to chase sequence in which our new protagonists Grace (Mackenzie Davis) and Dani (Naralia Reyes) are being pursued by a new Terminator Prototype called the Rev 9 (Gabriel Luna), which reveals that Grace is actually more than what she seems. The next sequence we see Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) step onto the scene and save the two.
Both of our new heroins have been revealed to be human/machine hybrids. How are these two characters going to bring something new to the series?

Hamilton’s appearance in the trailer as well as Arnold Schwarzenegger is something me and many fans have been wanting to see for some time. However, I think it’s not really necessary as both are pass their prime and who wants to see an old Sarah Connor and T-800.

The trailer has what you’d expect from a Terminator trailer. Plenty of action, gunfire and explosions. But the trailer has two interesting aspects going for it. For one, the near all female cast. When it was revealed that the main cast who consist mostly of female characters of course it was seen as a move by feminists. The second, is the new main antagonist the Rev 9, which appears to be able to split itself into two entities.

Terminator: Dark Fate has definitely established itself as something new, whether it’s good or bad remains to be seen. I thought the trailer was decent and felt like a trailer for a Terminator movie.
