Marvel Confirms Thunderbolts Movie

Marvel and Disney are well into the Phase 4 of the MCU, and the results have been…well they haven’t been as consistent as the previous years. The internet has been swarming with rumors about a possible Thunderbolts movie. Now, whether this is because this is where franchise was headed or if it was something the fans wanted to see, fans can be happy that it’s finally being confirmed. Marvel is also looking for a director for another team up movie, The Fantastic Four, which it is rebooting and bringing into the MCU.

We’ve had plenty of heroes and villains onscreen, and with DC and Sony having put out films focus on comic book villains such as Suicide Squad (2016), Joker (2019), Venom (2018), and Deathstroke: Dragons & Knights (2020); it’s time Marvel steps up to the plate.

It has been confirmed that Marvel will be developing a Thunderbolts movie. Now, for those who don’t know, the Thunderbolts are DC’s Suicide Squad. The Thunderbolts are a group of villains, reformed villains, and anti-heroes assembled and led by Baron Zemo in its first incarnation.

As of now, we don’t know which characters will be selected but it is safe to say that we’ll be seeing some villains returning as well as new ones. Like the Avengers, the roster is quite extensive so those producing the film will have plenty of choices to pick from. We’re going to at least see either Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) from Captain America: Civil War and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, or Valentina Allegra de Fontaine aka Madame Hydra (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Black Widow.

Plot details are on lock, so we won’t know anything until Marvel releases more details. There hasn’t been any confirmation on who they’re going to cast but it’s been confirmed that Kevin Feige will produce while Jake Schreier will direct. Schreier hasn’t had much experience in film as his only credits are 2012’s Robot & Frank and 2015’s Paper Towns. He’s directed a lot of music videos, some from prominent artists such as Benny Blanco, Kanye West, and Cashmere Cat. He’s also worked on a few episodes of various television shows including Minx, Alpha House, Lodge 49, and Dave.
