Jeepers Creepers: Reborn | What We Know So Far

Like many horror film series, it looked as if the Jeepers Creepers series had finally been laid to rest. With controversy surrounding the writer/director’s 1980s conviction for child molestation and a third film that was not only panned by fans but a total flop at the box office, it seemed as if the horror icon would never see the big screen again. However, it was confirmed that a fourth film was in development with a new team and a new direction.

Timo Vuorensola will be helming the project as director. Vuorensola is best known for directing the Star Wreck and the Iron Sky films. Not really an impressive resume. The script will be written by Sean Michael Argo, who’s filmography includes a number of B-movies. It’s unclear how much this film will fit into the continuity of the original trilogy as this movie will be the first in a new trilogy. There hasn’t been a casting list out yet and it’s unclear if Johnathan Breck will reprise his role as the titular creature.

The film doesn’t have a specific release date but its stated that the film will be released in the fall. The film will be set in Louisiana during an event known as the Horror Hound Festival, where fans of horror will be in attendance in mass. The film will focus on Laine, who joins her boyfriend Chase during the event, when she starts having visions of the Creeper. Premonitions aren’t new to the series, and in each movie there’s a character (usually a female) who has some psychic phenomena regarding the Creeper.

The premise of the series surrounds the Creeper, a humanoid creature who resurfaces every 23 years to harvest human parts and organs, and the people who attempt to escape its hunt. The first film dropped in 2001 while the second and third installments dropped in 2003 and 2017. In the second film (third story wise) the Creeper was heavily wounded when it goes into its hibernation. So far, the series has earned $182.4 million at the box office globally.
