Daredevil Season 3 follows Matt Murdock / Daredevil, a blind lawyer-by-day who fights crime at night. When Wilson Fisk is released from prison, Murdock must decide between hiding from the world or embracing his life as a hero vigilante.

Daredevil Season 3 has proven to be the most explosive season yet of the series.  There’s a lot to love about the season, not only with its powerful storytelling, but compelling character arcs, great additions to the cast, and the action.  This series has always had the best action sequences of all the MCU televisions series but this season just ups the ante.  Some of the best fights are between Daredevil and who we know as Bullseye.

Matt has miraculously survived the events of The Defenders and is getting back on his feet.  This time he’s having a bit of a crisis due to his wavering faith and abilities.  It’s an interesting challenge the character has to overcome.  Joanne Whalley joins the cast as Sister Maggie, a nun with an important connection to Matt Murdock’s past.  She’s actually one of the best new additions and one of my favorite characters by far.  Foggy Nelson and Karen Page get their time in the spotlight and it’s great seeing them more proactive in their efforts to stop Fisk.

Wilson Fisk returns and he’s going through the ringer.  It appears that things are going bad for the him because he’s sacrificing so much to protect his wife Vanessa, but there’s always that hint that he’s planning something.  That the things that are happening aren’t necessarily not beyond his control.  And if you’re thought Fisk was badass before, he doesn’t disappoint.  The general reveal of his methods and intelligence goes beyond just the acting by Vincent D’Onofrio (which is great) but by the great writing.  The Hand in season 2 were cool but seeing Fisk at his finest was much more interesting.

I’ve got to say that I was really impressed with Special Agent Benjamin Poindexter, played by Wilson Bethel.  From the first moment he took down the Albanians gunning for Fisk, he proved himself an interesting character.  Then as we went down the rabbit hole, we learn how disturbed a character he is and how badass a character he is.  I like that the writers kept him a tough guy but inferior to Daredevil’s close combat skills.  However, he was a far more efficient with all the random objects he uses.  I think the presentation of his skills was actually pretty good.  And the cliffhanger…magnificent for the future of the character.

Joining the characters is Rahul “Ray” Nadeem played by Jay Ali.  He’s actually a pretty interesting fellow.  He’s this FBI agent who’s finances are in the toilet and he’s trying to do better for his family.  His story is something we can relate to because let’s face it, in today’s world, there are a lot of families facing similar circumstances.  But it’s ultimately his decision to do good that sets him apart from the rest of the characters because like so many others, Fisk has him under his thumbs.  Great, great story.

The Verdict: In the end, Daredevil Season 3 is the best by far.  There’s just a lot to appreciate about this season, especially the rivalry between Murdock and Fisk.  I really enjoyed the new characters and I thought they did a great job of contributing something new to the story.  The season was well paced and the gradual reveal of the twists were really effective.  Daredevil Season 3 gets 5 out of 5.
