Ash vs. Evil Dead S.3 – Ep.4 “Unfinished Business” Review

This episode was mad crazy with a lot of entertainment and revelations. Ash’s father comes back as a ghost and reveals to Ash something that he’s kept secret for some time. Brock decides to take Ash back in time to witness a memory of Brock meeting one of the Knights and accidently killing the man. The interesting bit is that reveals how much of an asshole his father is but also acknowledging that the events of the series have actually been happening.

Kelly and Brandy have a really important moment where despite Ash’s flaws, he’s a good man. I like moments like that. I hope it helps Brandy to see Ash in a different light. Pablo gets turned into a Deadite, that was an interesting twist though Dalton did some foreshadowing of this two episodes ago. Kelly and Brandy have to find a way of subduing Pablo without killing him. I like seeing this turmoil with Deadite Pablo.

Also, I liked learning a bit more about Ruby. True, she’s a bitch but is she truly as evil as she appears? She’s been revealed to have sealed away the big bads of the series but to what end? She’s done some pretty bad things so what’s here endgame? Also, who was the woman she was talking to in the book.

I really enjoyed this episode. Especially the whole Deadite Pablo bit where he’s doing all of this crazy stuff to get into the trailer. And the whole Deadite mouth on Kelly’s leg was just gross.

Ash decides to take the fight to Ruby and rescues the foreign lady from the second episode, who Ruby kidnapped. But not before coming across the little demonic baby. Now, if you thought the fucker was tragic in his infant stage you should see him now with the whole large maw thing going. Good ending to a good episode.

The Verdict: In the end, “Unfinished Business” is just what you’d expect from this series. It’s interesting, entertaining, and above all, gross. I want to see where they’re going to go with the whole Deadite Pablo and the demonic baby. I’m also interested in seeing how Ash will use the missing pages he’s recovered. “Unfinished Business” gets 3 out of 5.
