Top 20 Demons/Devils in Video Games

Demons and devils are malevolent beings who are considered to be unclean spirits, fallen angels, or spirits of unknown type which may cause possession Demons are usually depicted as malevolent beings summoned from Hell or the Void to wreak havoc in one form or another.  This list includes demons, devils, succubus, hybrids, etc.

 1. Diablo (Diablo)

Diablo is the Lord of Terror and leader of the Great Evils (the most powerful demon lords) who rule the Burning Hells.  He is the main antagonist of the Diablo franchise, being the youngest and most powerful of the three Prime Evils.


2. Dante (Devil May Cry)

Dante is the main protagonist of the Devil May Cry series. He is the second son of the demon Sparda and the human Eva, and the younger twin brother of Vergil. Dante is a paranormal mercenary, private investigator and vigilante Devil Hunter dedicated to exterminating evil demons and other malevolent supernatural forces; a mission he follows in pursuit of those that killed his mother and corrupted his brother.


3. Hellboy (Hellboy)

Hellboy is the child of the demon Azzael and the witch Sarah Hughes, a former B.P.R.D. agent and the unwilling Harbinger of the Apocalypse, Anung Un Rama.


4. Gargos (Killer Instinct)

Gargos is a demon lord spawned from the Astral Plane. Sadistic, vain and utterly megalomaniacal, this nightmarish entity rampaged across his own dimension, killing all who opposed him and siphoning their powers, eventually becoming the supreme Shadow Lord—a master of Shadow Energy.


5. Omen (Killer Instinct)

Omen is a blue-hued demon—an Astral being created by the Shadow Lord known as Gargos. Proclaiming proudly to all that he is the “Herald of Gargos,” he serves his master obsequiously. Omen was formed from the very thoughts of his maker, for in the Astral Plane certain powerful creatures like Gargos who can force reality to bend to their imaginings; and through sheer force of will create “living” beings.


6. Vergil (Devil May Cry)

Vergil was the eldest of twin sons born of the demon Sparda and human Eva, and is the main antagonist of Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening. Following the death of their mother as children, Vergil rejects his humanity and embraces his demonic heritage. Stoic and reserved, Vergil displays a willingness to do anything in his quest to obtain the power of his father, Sparda.


7. Lucifer (Dante’s Inferno)

Lucifer is the ruler of Hell and the main antagonist of Dante’s Inferno. Once God‘s most glorious Seraph, Lucifer was banished from Paradise as punishment for leading a rebellion against Him. Now a twisted and demonic being, he plotted his return to “his rightful place in Paradise”. He is trapped waist-deep in ice in the frozen Lake Cocytus within the circle of Treachery. Despite this, the Prince of Darkness can project himself in a smoky form on Earth and throughout the nine circles.


8. Lucifer (Darksiders)

Lucifer is the sovereign ruler of the Second Kingdom and hereby the supreme master of demonkind.


9. Satan (Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell)

Satan is the ruler of Hell and the main antagonist of Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell.


10. Jezebel Mephistopheles (Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell)

Jezebel is Satan‘s daughter in Saints Row: Gat out of Hell. She is set to marry The Protagonist but she is initially reluctant to do so. Kinzie and Johnny bring her and The Protagonist back to The Ship.


11. Baron of Hell (Doom)

The Baron of Hell is a powerful, high-ranking hell monster that appears in Doom (2016).


12. Ashrah (Mortal Kombat)

Despite having the appearance of an elegant, old-fashioned, attractive young woman, Ashrah is actually a demon from the Netherrealm. She dresses completely in white and appears as a tall, mysterious woman; a blend between aristocracy and innocence.


13. Demise (The Legend of Zelda)

Demise is one of the two main antagonists of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, being the risen form of an ancient evil previously sealed by the goddess Hylia. He is a demonic entity with a humanoid appearance. Fitting his role as the Demon King, Demise is vicious and lacking in compassion, comparing mortals as being weak. As the Demon King himself, Demise has an incredible amount of power which makes him one of the most, if not the most powerful villain to appear. His powers can overwhelm even deities and makes him the supreme ruler of the Demon Tribe, striking fear into most beings.


14. Sargeras (World of Warcraft)

Sargeras, dark god of chaotic magic,[2] is a demonic titan who created the Burning Legion. Sargeras created this vast demonic army to scour all creation. The Burning Legion moves from world to world, annihilating everything in its path with devastating fel magic. No one knows exactly how many worlds and mortal civilizations the demons have annihilated in their unholy Burning Crusade.


15. Old King Allant (Demon’s Souls)

Allant, driven by a lust for power, became a demon after he made a pact with The Old One. After Allant allied with the Old One, he was given immense power. Using this power, he fashioned a demon made in his own image, made to look like his old self at the height of his power which is why he is called the ‘False King’. This demon would lead the demon armies against Boletaria.


16. Quan Chi (Mortal Kombat)

Quan Chi is the most powerful sorcerer and necromancer in the Netherrealm and a primary villain in the Mortal Kombat series. Quan Chi combines both cunning and brute force in his never-ending plots to overtake not only Earthrealm, but all of reality. He is an opportunist and will ally himself with anyone who can help him further his own goals.


17. Morrigan Aensland (Darkstalkers)

Morrigan is a succubus and a powerful princess (later queen) of the demon realm Makai, who is very vain and lives for little more than the excitement of battle, but slowly takes up more of her royal responsibilities seriously despite her obsessive fascination with the human world.


18. Lucifer (Alone in the Dark)

After being cast from heaven, Lucifer was sealed inside of a stone.  Upon being released by a man named Crowley, Lucifer now wants to use the stone to bring about the end of the world.


19. Vincent Valentine (Final Fantasy VII)

Though not truly a demon, Vincent has powerful transformations.  His most powerful is Chaos, a demonic entity who appears in Final Fantasy VII and its sequel Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII. Chaos is a Limit Break for Vincent, and the only incarnation of it in the Final Fantasy series that is portrayed as clearly on the heroes’ side; it is not necessarily benevolent, but only because Vincent himself is.


20. Arbus (The Gray Garden)

Arbus is a deceptively young looking demon with short, straight black hair who’s personality is both mischievous and playful.

  1. Ashrah is my only favorite demon chcharacter from MK series,sadly i thought it was gonna be the more demons or devils from video games like the Volk’s demon from Geist (Video game) where Volk gets possessed by a demon from looking at the mirror.

    • Well, this website is constantly growing so they’ll be another top 20 video demons/devils list as I play and review more games.
