The Predator Trailer Review

This post in be a combination of thoughts on both the first and second trailers.  The Predator is an upcoming 2018 science fiction horror film that’s serving as a sequel/reboot of the Predator film series.  The Predator series focuses on a group of extraterrestrials who hunt humans for sport.

The Predator features a very different tone than what we’ve seen before in previous installments.  This time around it seems like humans know about the Predators (more humans than in the previous films).  Also, it seems like the story will explore the idea of genetic manipulation on the Predators’ part and that seems like an interesting concept.  The idea of a super predator deserves a thumbs up.

There have been three films in the series; Predator (1987), Predator 2 (1990), and Predators (2010). There have also been two crossovers, AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004) and its sequel AVPR: Aliens vs Predator – Requiem (2007).  The series has experienced a lot of ups and downs when it comes to critics.

One of the most significant things about the trailer is seeing the Predator in action.  Looks like there’s going to be plenty of humans versus the Predator and apparently even a Predator versus super Predator battle.  This is all fine and dandy but hopefully the movie maintains a high level of suspense.

The predator design looks great, closer to that of the first film and not all armored which looks good.  I’m a little concerned with the design of the super predator.  The full cgi is kind of a problem because the best aspect of the predator series is the strong use of practical.

The film is directed by Shane Black, who had a supporting role in the original film.  the film will star Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Thomas Jane, and Alfie Allen.
