Television is no stranger to characters with electricity/lightning based powers. This post will include live action, cartoon, and anime.
1. Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning (Black Lightning)
Jefferson is a metahuman with the ability to generate, absorb, and manipulate electricity.
2. Princess Azula (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
Noted as a powerful and highly skilled firebender, Azula is so proficient she can bend lightning.
3. Gilthunder (The Seven Deadly Sins)
Gilthunder, like all Holy Knights, has magic that transcends human knowledge imbued within his body, and is among the strongest. Gilthunder is greatly skilled in lightning magic, being able to use it both offensively and defensively. He can use his magic to further increase his physical capabilities.
4. Aqualad (Young Justice)
Trained in the mystical arts by Queen Mera, he has the power to generate electricity from the eel tattoos on his arms.
5. Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter (Sailor Moon)
Like all other Sailor Scouts, Makoto has a planetary theme as well as an elemental theme, her’s being lightning and plants.
6. Laxus Dreyar (Fairy Tail)
Laxus has mastery over Lightning Magic which allows him to produce and manipulate lightning and electricity at his will to varying degrees and for varying effects.
7. Jennifer Pierce/Lightning (Black Lightning)
Jennifer is a metahuman and has the power to generate yellow-orange burning electric shocks and bursts from her hands. When using her powers, the irises of her eyes glow the same yellow-orange color as her electric shocks.
8. Leslie Willis/Livewire (Supergirl)
Leslie is able to control and siphon electricity, as well as to transform into electricity. She has used it to conjure lightning blasts of various intensities and lengths and can form into solid constructs, such as a whip or flail.
9. Elle Bishop (Heroes)
Elle had the ability to generate electricity which she seemed to have excellent control over her ability, allowing her to generate electric arcs of varying intensity and target them precisely.
10. Virgil Hawkins/Static (Static Shock)
Hawkins’s abilities develop after an incident exposes him to a radioactive chemical. This event renders him capable of electromagnetic control and generation.
11. Kakashi Hatake (Naruto/Naruto: Shippuden)
Kakashi’s natural affinity is for Lightning Release, which he will at times channel into weaponry to increase its cutting power. He created the Chidori, a collection of lightning chakra in the hand that can pierce most targets that it is thrust into; he once famously split a bolt of lightning with his Chidori.
12. Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto/Naruto: Shippuden)
Sasuke is also a formidable user of Lightning Release, making first use of it with the Chidori taught to him by Kakashi. While effective at piercing most targets, the standard Chidori is a very close-range attack. For this reason, Sasuke uses the principles of Chidori to create several long-range jutsu in Part II, such as throwable needles, extendable swords, and scattershot streams. He often channels his lightning chakra into his Sword of Kusanagi to increase its cutting power.
13. Enel (One Piece)
Enel gets his Devil Fruit power from the Logia-type Goro Goro no Mi, which allows him to transform into, create, and control lightning. It lets him use a variety of lightning based attacks either by channeling lightning through his body or by striking the drums on his back, which are nearly all named after thunder gods from various cultures.
14. Wally West/Flash (The Flash)
Wally can produce yellow electricity, his Speed Force energy, from his body. It is commonly seen when running. While mostly used to boost his speed to higher levels, it can be used in other ways. The intensity of it can interfere with the surrounding electronics and overwhelm electric-absorption. Wally can harness this electricity to repeatedly hurl lightning bolts to stun or repel enemies, and also electrify a surface.
15. Zatch Bell (Zatch Bell!)
Zatch specializes in Lightning Magic and his lightning is often yellow-colored but may be gold at times. He was given an electrical draconic power known as Bao by his father. Zaker is Zatch’s signature spell where he emits a powerful lightning from his mouth, strong enough to blast through solid stone. One zap can bring a person down. This is his most basic attack spell, and was his most used spell until he developed further his abilities.
16. Huang Pao-Lin/Dragon Kid (Tiger & Bunny)
Dragon Kid is an adept martial artist and is skilled at fighting with a staff. She is also able to generate and control electricity. She has been seen electrocuting criminals through direct and range contact, through a conductor such as the metal of a car, and through her metal staff.
17. Hikaru Shidou (Magic Knight Rayearth)
Although she specializes in Fire Magic, Hikaru gains an additional spell that let’s her use Lightning Magic called Crimson Lightning. Hikaru gathers lightning energy that takes the form of ruby coloured balls, each ball of magic is able to do considerable amounts of damage.
18. Raikage (Naruto: Shippuden)
Raikage utilizes his Lightning Release Chakra Mode that enhances his physical parameters and reflexes. He wraps his body in a layer of lightning chakra which, instead of being used offensively, is used to electrically stimulate his nervous system. The technique speeds up neural synapses reaction time, and pushes physical prowess to the absolute limit allowing for tremendous raw speed. The higher the level, the higher the speed the user can achieve.
19. Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus (Star Wars: The Clone Wars)
In addition to his formidable lightsaber skills, Dooku was enormously powerful and skilled in the use of the Force lightning, using it as both a means of torture and execution, and was able to use it in conjunction with telekinesis, usually to send a person flying with his lightning or even to levitate his opponents while using his lightning on them.
20. Leslie Willis (Smallville)
Leslie had the ability to produce and manipulate electricity. She showed great control over her powers, with the electricity projecting around her body and then coming to her hands and concentrating it into a ball of energy. Usually, the color of the electricity produced is of a greenish hue.
