Top 10 Marvel Comics Characters

Welcome to another great top 10 list.  We’re going back to the comics and taking a look at the top 10 Marvel Comics characters.

1. She-Hulk

A cousin to Bruce Banner, Jennifer Walters once received an emergency blood transfusion from him when she was wounded, which led to her acquiring a milder version of his Hulk condition. As such, she becomes a large powerful green-hued version of herself while still largely retaining her personality; in particular she retains her intelligence and emotional control, though like Hulk, she still becomes stronger if enraged.

2. Rogue

Rogue is part of a subspecies of humans called mutants, who are born with superhuman abilities. Rogue has the involuntary ability to absorb and sometimes also remove the memories, physical strength, and superpowers of anyone she touches. Therefore, Rogue considers her powers to be a curse. For most of her life, she limited her physical contact with others.

3. Venom

Venom is a Symbiote, a sentient alien, with a gooey, almost liquid-like form. As with real-world symbiotes, it requires a host, usually human, to bond with for its survival. After bonding, the Symbiote endows its enhanced powers upon the host. When the Venom Symbiote bonds with a human, that new dual-life form refers to itself as “Venom”.

4. Wolverine

He is a mutant who possesses animal-keen senses, enhanced physical capabilities, powerful regenerative ability known as a healing factor, and three retractable bone claws in each hand. Wolverine has been depicted variously as a member of the X-Men, Alpha Flight, and the Avengers.

5. Hulk

Following his accidental exposure to gamma radiation during the detonation of an experimental bomb, Banner is physically transformed into the Hulk when subjected to emotional stress, at or against his will, often leading to destructive rampages and conflicts that complicate Banner’s civilian life. The Hulk’s level of strength is normally conveyed as proportionate to his level of anger.

6. Spider-Man

Bitten by a radioactive spider, high school student Peter Parker gained the speed, strength and powers of a spider. Adopting the name Spider-Man, Peter hoped to start a career using his new abilities. Taught that with great power comes great responsibility, Spidey has vowed to use his powers to help people.

7. Iron Man

A wealthy American business magnate, playboy, and ingenious scientist, Tony Stark suffers a severe chest injury during a kidnapping in which his captors attempt to force him to build a weapon of mass destruction. He uses the suit and successive versions to protect the world as Iron Man, while at first concealing his true identity.

8. Captain America

Steve Rogers was a frail young man enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum to aid the United States government’s efforts in World War II. Captain America wears a costume that bears an American flag motif, and is armed with a nearly indestructible shield that he throws at foes. He remains a highly respected figure in his community which includes becoming the long-time leader of the Avengers.

9. Shocker

Herman Schultz is a career criminal who, after several prison terms for robbery, built a battle suit that sent out shock waves to quickly open safes as well as give him a significant advantage over the police. His criminal career as the self-styled “Shocker” put him in direct conflict with the superhero Spider-Man.

10. Carnage

Along with Venom, Carnage belongs to a race of amorphous extraterrestrial parasites known as the Symbiotes. Carnage was once a serial killer known as Cletus Kasady, and became Carnage after merging with the offspring of the alien symbiote called Venom during a prison breakout. The symbiote amplified his psychotic nature making him even less mentally stable than he had been previously, and therefore even more dangerous.
