Death of Wolverine: The Weapon X Program #2 Review

The issue opens up with a group of super-humans led by the badass Sharp who’ve escaped from the evil experiments of the hidden laboratory, Paradise. The group are attacked by an attack chopper and are nearly killed but the mutant Meifeng uses her ability to destroy the chopper. She has this interesting ability to gain momentary burst of speed and the dropping of the fire extinguisher on the helicopter blades was a great idea.

Sharp then lands the helicopter on a passing train (totally badass) and the group jump into a river, hoping the helicopter will detour their pursuers.  The mutants take the time to give themselves codenames as well as figure out their powers.  Neuro is super intelligent, Meijing can gain bursts of speed, Skel has increase strength and endurance, and Junk has animalistic characteristics.  During the night, they are attacked by more Paradise operatives but they are quickly slain by Sharp.  They take the dead Paradise operatives’ armored vehicle and escape.

They deduce that the operatives are tracking them and Neuro removes the tracking devices.  When he attempts to remove the tracker from the unconscious woman she wakes up and reads his mind revealing him as a serial killer. This is a pretty sweet twist.  He kills her claiming as an accident which is pretty slick on his part and does shows that he is seasoned.  After burying her remains the issue ends with the group deciding to track down another one of the experiments, Victor Creed.

The Verdict: In the end, Death of Wolverine: The Weapon X Program #2 is pretty cool and helps to secure the characters.  Each have shown ability but the winning character that stands out the most is Neuro, who is shown to be a killer which opens up an interesting can of worms.  Also, there is how Sharp catches on to Neuro and how he seems to share Logan’s memories as well as instincts.  Death of Wolverine: The Weapon X Program #2 gets 3 out of 5.
