(1) Killer Instinct (2013)
Developer(s): Double Helix Games/Iron Galaxy/Rare
Killer Instinct is one of the cornerstone fighting games that helped shape fighting games and it’s great Microsoft decided to bring the series back. Not only is the gameplay mechanics worth investing in but the refinement in said gameplay makes the game challenging while still being fun. The roster of characters is diverse, each with their unique fighting style and specials, and with the modern graphics makes the game look really good.

Developer(s): Ubisoft Montreal
One game that’s the best in art direction, fun gameplay, incredible music, diverse companion system, deep story, and a great combat system is Child of Light. It’s no wonder a game such as this has made many top 10 lists. Aurora must do battle with the Queen of the Night in order to free the sun, the moon, and the stars.
(3) Halo: Master Chief Collection (2014)
Developer(s): 343 Industries
It’s always great having collections so that players can have their favorites in one spot and the Master Chief Collection is no exception. Not only does it have all of what makes Halo great but it even updates the graphics for the older versions while allowing players the option of switching between the classic and the new. With its scoring system, multiplayer availability, and customization the Master Chief Collection will stand the test of time.
(4) Resident Evil 2 Remake (2019)
Developer(s): Capcom
Resident Evil is one of the series that helped to define gaming as we know it when it was released in the 90s. And it did it again with the release of Resident Evil 4 in the 2000s. Now, with the remake released it has done it again. Every aspect of this game is brilliant. Visually it’s stunning, the gameplay is fun but challenging, the story is good and engaging, and combination of great sound design and masterful lighting create a dark, creepy atmosphere. Not to mention seeing a young Leon and Claire warring with the undead and monsters alike is great.
(5) Rise of the Tomb Raider (2013)

When the reboot dropped in 2013 Lara Croft was thrust back into the spotlight. And with the sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider, she again was thrust into the spotlight. Rise of the Tomb Raider features a deep and engaging story follows our Heroine as she does battle with the mysterious Trinity organization. Playing Lara Croft has never been better.
(6) Far Cry 5 (2018)
Developer(s): Ubisoft Montreal/Ubisoft Toronto
With the awesomeness of Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4, the fifth entry had big shoes to fill. And I have to admit that the game delivers. Far Cry 5 introduces a lot of new concepts to the series such as two player co-op, the ability to recruit other characters including locals and “specialists”, a map maker, and higher tier enemies with the new Resistance Meter system. Not to mention, the Enden’s Gate leader, Joseph Seed or more commonly known as Father, is one of the best characters in the franchise and one of the best villains in gaming.
(7) Gears 5 (2019)
Developer(s): The Coalition
The Gears series has always shown a story of global proportions but Gears 5 makes the story a little more personal. It’s story focuses on Kait Diaz and the mystery surrounding her past while still focusing on the growing threat of the new enemy, the Swarm. The action is ramped up, the multiplayer still hardcore, great multiplayer modes including the new Escape Mode and of course, the open world segments.

Bethesda changed the game with Fallout 3. And when Obsidian developed Fallout: New Vegas, the playing field changed yet again. And now with Fallout 4 the game has changed again. Players explore the massive world of the Commonwealth balancing relationships with various factions, fighting tons of unique mutants and monsters, tons of hours of exploration, and the ability to acquire and customize your own settlements. It’s a game that keeps on giving and every new playthrough is guaranteed to find new locations, characters, and missions. Not to mention some of the most memorable companions in the series.
(9) Dragon Age: Inquisition (2014)

What makes this game so good is that it feels like a players are at war. Not only are the strategic moves characters can make with their generals to turn the tide of battle but there are large open areas where characters can embark on missions with their companions. Building up your castle gives players a sense of accomplishment. And not to mention the deep customization system makes building your character and team fun.

(10) Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice (2017)
Developer(s): Ninja Theory
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a brilliance of skillfully crafted art, focused storytelling, and intense atmosphere. The setting’s a world filled with an ever growing darkness, twisted mythology, and unrelenting death which gives the game a dark, overbearing atmosphere. And a big thumbs up to Melina Juergens for her brilliant voice overs which provide excellent incite into Senua’s character and to the world around her.
