Point Lookout is the fourth dlc and the best of the Fallout 3 add-ons.

The story is set in Point Lookout State Park, Maryland and follows the player who is searching for the daughter, named Nadine, of a woman named Catherine.  The protagonist ends up meeting a pre-War ghoul named Desmond Lockheart who has come into conflict with the Tribals under the control of his rival, Professor Calvert.

The story is actually pretty interesting.  While diving into missions concerning Desmond Lockheart and Professor Calvert’s rivalry spans hundreds of years, since before the war.  The setting itself tells a pretty interesting story as the degradation of the state park provides insight in the wake of the bombs aftermath.  But there is much more to it than that.

Easily the highest point of the dlc, Point Lookout‘s map is the massive (either 1/5 and 1/6 the map of the Capital Wasteland) and exploring it from coast to coast will easily take hours.  There are so many interesting locations worth looking into and diverse in terms of design with swamps, ponds, irradiated forests, rocky shores, and even caves and caverns.  There’s a shit ton of exploration and it’s honestly worth it.

Of course, there are new weapons and new gear.  The weapons are low-tech compared to what you’ll see in Broken Steel or Mothership Zeta.  Most you’ll find are axes, shovels, rifles, and double-barreled shotguns.  I really enjoyed the shotguns, only because shotguns look cool while reloading.

And honestly, it doesn’t matter how strong players are, the new enemy types are tough as hell, especially the inbred swampfolk.  I went into the game with some of my strongest weapons (including the missile launcher) and damn it, if it hardly slowed them down.  Hell, most of the fights, I was back peddling and shooting.  And despite how simple their weapons are they pack more punch than anything you’ll have.  There are other enemy types but they’re just variants of creatures encountered before.

The Verdict:  In the end, Point Lookout is just awesome.  There’s a lot of content with a large open map.  There are plenty of characters to interact with and lots of secrets to uncover.  But overall the dlc is definitely worth the download.
