Chances are if you’ve ever watched cartoons or played video games in your youth, you’ve seen or heard of the famous hedgehog named Sonic.  Originally created by Sega, Sonic is a anthropomorphic hedgehog with the ability to run super fast.

 1. Sonic the Hedgehog

The titular character of the series, Sonic is a free spirited individual with an adventurous personality gifted with the ability to run exceptionally fast.  Faster than the speed of sound, Sonic takes on any challenge with enjoyment.  It’s no reason that he’s one of video games most prominent characters.  He can morph into a powerful Super form when infused with the energy of all seven Chaos Emeralds.

2. Amy Rose

Although a bit of a nuisance in her debut, Amy has really come into her own.  Similar to Sakura from Naruto, Amy proclaims herself as Sonic’s girlfriend.  But unlike Sakura, Amy is pretty badass with her Piko Piko Hammer and strong will.  Still, Amy has a kind and nurturing personality that makes her likable.

3. Knuckles the Echidna

Knuckles is the last remaining member of the Knuckles Clan, an ancient race of Echidnas that devotes their lives to protect the Master Emerald.  Much like Shadow, Knuckles has the bad boy factor on lock (especially with his dreadlocks) and like him is not the one for social interactions.  Knuckles might not be as fast as Sonic, but his strength more than makes up for it being equally as strong as Sonic is fast.  Did I forget to mention that he has spikes on his knuckles which allow him to climb, dig and has great fighting abilities.

4. Rogue the Bat

Rogue is one this list because she’s the mysterious character, never truly being on anyone’s side.  She’s like Black Widow from the Avengers, Catwoman from Batman, and Ada Wong from Resident Evil.  She’s smart, manipulative, and realistic; going for whoever is the winning team.

5. Shadow the Hedgehog

If there were ever a bad boy of the series, it would be Shadow.  Shadow is the opposite of Sonic; in design and personality.  Everything about him draws the gaze of anyone in his presence.  He is Sonic’s greatest rival matching him in terms of speed and skills.  He was originally created as the Ultimate Life Form and released by Eggman to aid his goals of world domination. Shadow’s shoes allow him to hover and propel him at high speeds. Like Sonic he can morph into a powerful Super form when infused with the energy of all seven Chaos Emeralds.

6. Miles “Tails” Prower

Tails gets his name from the abnormal twin tails, which he can use to fly similar to a helicopter.  He’s Sonic’s best friend and because of Sonic has been inspired to be a more confident character.  He’s also got mad mechanical and piloting skills.

7. Blaze the Cat

She is the guardian of the Sol Emeralds, which are the polar opposite of the Chaos Emeralds.  Her position as a warrior princess and a guardian does leave her lonely and distrustful of others but also emphasizes how complex a character she is.  She is a pyrokinetic giving her control of fire which reflects her personality.  She’s so proficient she’s able to use her pyrokinesis to boost her create shields and boost her otherwise formidable fighting skills. Like Sonic she can morph into a powerful Super form called Burning Blaze when infused with the energy of all seven Chaos Emeralds.

8. Metal Sonic

One of Sonic’s most endearing and most powerful enemies, Metal Sonic is a big league villain who’s not to be taken lightly.  Created by Eggman to be Sonic’s superior, Metal Sonic has fought Sonic time and time again to a stand still.  Not only is he strong and fast he’s got other capabilities such as shooting lasers and electrical blasts, emit force fields, has morphing capabilities, can predict Sonic’s movements, and can immediately and flawlessly mimic other people’s skills and abilities.  Hell, Eggman can hardly control him half the time.

9. Silver the Hedgehog

Tricked into believing that Sonic was the famed Iblis Trigger that destroys his world, Silver travels back in time to kill Sonic and thus save the future. Silver is uniquely gifted with the talent of telekinesis/psychokinesis which expresses his mental capabilities.  He’s much different than Sonic and Shadow and despite his youth and lack of speed is able to defeat the two.  Silver is likable and due to his abilities can be cocky.  Not to mention he has the ability to fly. Like Sonic he can morph into a powerful Super form when infused with the energy of all seven Chaos Emeralds.

10. Chaos

Chaos serves as the main antagonist. Chaos is an immortal, speechless figure with aquatic powers who changes forms based on the number of Chaos Emeralds he absorbs. In his final “Perfect Chaos” form, he’s a giant dragon-like water beast.
