DragonBall Super: Broly Trailer Review

DragonBall Super has done a great job of revitalizing the DragonBall franchise and it’s introduced and reintroduced some really good characters.  Now, it’s coming out with its first movie and it’s going to feature and center on one of DragonBall Z‘s most favored villains: Broly.

The trailer isn’t long but it does manage to be captivating.  It also waste no time letting us know that there is going to be some serious fighting going on.  Broly will definitely have one-on-one fights with Vegeta, Frieza, and Goku and that’s a plus.

Also, there are more side characters and this is great as I hope that these side characters contribute more to the story than just having one big fight.  That’s one of my biggest problems with the previous three Broly films is that the stories were lacking.  Hopefully, in terms of story we get more emphasis on Broly’s backstory and the origins of his abilities.

Broly is a saiyan like the show’s titular characters Goku and Vegeta and like them is the one of the last of the saiyan race.  Broly has been featured in three films already; Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan (1993), Broly – Second Coming (1994), and Bio-Broly (1994).

Will this be the same story of old?  Will this stem from the destruction of planet Vegeta by the hands of Frieza and will that be a significant storyline? There’s obviously been some experimentation so hopefully we’ll see more on Paragus as well.  We see that Broly is damn strong in his natural state compared to the others having to transform.

And lastly, aside from the story being different I’m really liking the new design.  The costumes and technology feel like DBZ and offshoots of Frieza’s organization.  Some people complained about Broly’s suit but I think it’s fitting and every saiyan has worn the tradition Frieza Force outfit.  Why not Broly?

The trailer just does a great job of getting you hooked.
