The Time Lords are a fictional, ancient extraterrestrial species, named for their command of time travel technology and their non-linear perception of time. Time Lords are featured on the science fiction television Doctor Who, which the titular character, the Doctor, is a member. River is a companion, romantic interest and eventual wife of the Doctor in his eleventh incarnation. Because River Song is a time traveler herself, her adventures with the Doctor occur out of synchronization; their first meeting (from the audience’s perspective) is his first and apparently her last.
