On November 21, 2004, the Nintendo DS made its North American debut, forever changing handheld gaming. Introduced as the successor to the Game Boy Advance, the DS (Dual Screen) showcased a bold new design with two screens, the bottom one featuring touch functionality. This opened up a world of interactive possibilities, from the brain-teasing fun of Brain Age to the creative freedom of Nintendogs and the tactical brilliance of Advance Wars: Dual Strike.
As part of the seventh generation of gaming consoles, the DS also pushed boundaries with innovations like Wi-Fi connectivity for multiplayer gaming. It came in an array of colors, including iconic silver and cobalt blue, and saw later iterations, such as the DS Lite and DSi, which refined the experience.
