The Super Mario games are set primarily in the fictional Mushroom Kingdom, following Mario and is usually joined by his brother, Luigi, and often by other members of the Mario cast, typically with Mario and Luigi rescuing the kidnapped Princess Peach from the primary antagonist, Bowser. 

In this post, we’re using our standard 1-to-5 rating system, 1 being worst and 5 being the best. We’re not including games based on Luigi, Donkey Kong, Sonic, Wario, Yoshi, or Super Smash Bros. However, we are including sports games and crossovers such as Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (2007) or Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars (2015).
