If you’re a true anime fan, you’ve come up with a list of your favorites. And if you’ve watched any number of anime you’d be hard pressed not to have a list. Some of these have gained godlike status while others have kind of flew under the radar. Regardless, these entires are just my personal opinion, but I’m confident most fans will agree with my choices.
Some honorable mentions include Elfen Lied, Bleach, Ultimate Muscle, Case Closed, DragonBall, Naruto, Mobile Fighter G Gundam, Monster Rancher, Fairy Tail, and Rurouni Kenshin.
(1) DragonBall Z (1989-2003)
The adventures of Earth’s martial arts defender Son Goku continue with a new family and the revelation of his alien origin. Now Goku and his allies must defend the planet from an onslaught of new extraterrestrial enemies.
(2) Cowboy Bebop (1998-1999)
The futuristic misadventures and tragedies of an easygoing bounty hunter and his partners.
(3) Sailor Moon (1992-1997)
The series follows the adventures of the titular protagonist whose civilian name is Usagi Tsukino, a middle school student who is given the power to become the Pretty Soldier. Joined by other Sailor Soldiers, she defends Earth against an assortment of evil villains.

The adventures of the master thief Lupin III and his cohorts as they dive into various escapades, all the while in pursuit by the tenacious Inspector Zenigata.

Fuu, a waitress who works in a teahouse, rescues two master swordsmen, Mugen and Jin, from their execution to help her find the “samurai who smells of sunflowers.”
(6) Death Note (2006-2007)
An intelligent high school student goes on a secret crusade to eliminate criminals from the world after discovering a notebook capable of killing anyone whose name is written into it.

Naruto Uzumaki, is a loud, hyperactive, adolescent ninja who constantly searches for approval and recognition, as well as to become Hokage, who is acknowledged as the leader and strongest of all ninja in the village.
(11) Witch Hunter Robin (2002)
The series focuses on Robin Sena, a member of the Solomon Executive Organization, who fights the harmful use of witchcraft using a database of witches, which includes those who have obtained the power of witchcraft through genetics and others who carry the gene (called “seeds”) in order to arrest or eliminate them should their powers “awaken”.
(12) Inuyasha (2000-2004)
A teenage girl periodically travels back in time to feudal Japan to help a young half-demon recover the shards of a jewel of great power.
(13) Digimon Adventure (1999-2000)
On August 1, 1999, seven children are transported into the Digital World by Digivices that appeared before them at summer camp, where they befriend several Digimon (Digital Monsters). The kids’ Digivices allow their partner Digimon to Digivolve[b] into stronger forms and combat enemies. As the kids explore to find a way home, they learn that they are “DigiDestined”, children chosen to save the Digital World.
(14) Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files (1992-1995)
One day, 14-year-old Yusuke Urameshi suddenly finds himself dead, having died pushing a child out of the way of oncoming traffic. After being resurrected, Yusuke becomes a Spirit Detective, along with his comrades, and one adventure after another happens, whether it be an investigation or a fighting tournament.

Follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew in order to find the greatest treasure ever left by the legendary Pirate, Gold Roger. The famous mystery treasure named “One Piece”.

The adventures of a teenage sorceress and her companions as they quest for gold and glory (especially gold).
(17) Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009-2012)
Two brothers search for a Philosopher’s Stone after an attempt to revive their deceased mother goes awry and leaves them in damaged physical forms.
(18) Wolf’s Rain (2003-2004)
In a post-apocalyptic future where humans live in domed cities surrounded by wasteland, wolves are assumed to be two hundred years extinct.
(19) Mobile Suit Gundam Wing
The series follows on the war between Earth and its orbital colonies in the Earth-Moon system.
(20) Fist of the North Star (1984-1988)
Years after the Earth and civilization was nearly destroyed by a nuclear holocaust, the survivors of the fallout struggle over the remaining supply food and water left. Kenshiro, successor to an ancient, deadly martial art known as Hokuto Shinken (Fist of the North Star), travels the wasteland bringing justice to the lawless world.
