Obi-Wan Kenobi TV Series Cast Reveal

With Disney+ going forward with expanding its Star Wars franchise with its many new series, it’s only smart that they would go forward with one focused on one of the franchises most notable characters: Obi-Wan Kenobi. Since it’s confirmation, there has been a lot of hush hush surrounding what the series would be about, although there’s information stating that the series will take place a decade after the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

It’s already been established that Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as the titular character as well as Hayden Christensen returning as Kenobi’s former apprentice Anakin Skywalker turned Sith Lord Darth Vader. Last month it was revealed that Indira Varma was cast in an unknown role. The actress is best known for her role as Ellaria Sand in Game of Thrones.

Since the series is set to begin production casting director Carmen Cuba has added several more actors and actresses to the main cast. Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Rupert Friend, Benny Safdie, Simone Kessell, Sung Kang, and O’Shea Jackson Jr. Edgerton and Piesse have played supporting roles in the prequel films so it’s safe to say that we’ll be seeing Luke Skywalker’s uncle Owen Lars and aunt Beru Lars in some compacity. And due to the series taking place between Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, this furthers many of our suspensions.

Moses Ingram’s credits include her performance in Netflix’s limited series The Queen’s Gambit. Nanjiani is known for his role in the HBO comedy series Silicon Valley and will be in Marvel’s upcoming Eternals film. Friend played CIA operative Peter Quinn in the Showtime political thriller Homeland as well as Agent 47 in the film Hitman: Agent 47. Safdie has directed several movies with his brother Josh, including Good Time and Daddy Longlegs, but has starred in Netflix’s Pieces of a Woman. Kessell’s TV credits include The Crossing and Reckoning. Kang is known for playing Han in the Fast & Furious series. Jackson Jr.’s acting came to prominence as Ice Cube in Straight Outta Compton. His other acting gigs involve’s Ingrid Goes West and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

The series will be produced by McGregor as well as Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, writer Joby Harold, and Deborah Chow. Aside from the Obi-Wan series, Disney+ has several live-action series in the works including “Rogue One“, “Rangers of the New Republic“, “The Book of Boba Fett“, an Ahsoka Tano spinoff series, and a new season of “The Mandalorian“.
