Top 100 Movie Characters of All Time (31-40)

Welcome to another of our awesome post. In this one we’re continuing our list of 100 movie characters of all time. Because our list is so extensive we’re decided to split it up into ten parts so we hope you stay tuned and enjoy our picks.

(31) Eddie Valiant

Eddie Valiant is a private detective who originally was partnered with his brother Teddy to investigate cases involving Toons. However, his brother killed during one of their investigations, leaving Eddie an angry drunk with a strong distaste for Toons.

Eddie makes the list because he’s just grumpy and I like grumpy characters. Yeah, a cartoon killed his brother so he has reason to. But beneath his exterior lies a heart of gold. He’s smart, observant, fast thinking, and tough but he’s also caring. Ever since watching this movie I’ve really enjoy Bob Hoskins as an actor.

Film(s): Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988)

(32) Ramona Flowers

Ramona is a “ninja delivery girl” for Amazon with the ability to travel through subspace and one of the main characters of the film. Initially withdrawn, she becomes the love interest for the film’s titular character who has to battle her seven evil exes for her affection. She’s portrayed by Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Ramona makes the list because 1) I like emo chicks, 2) I like Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and 3) she’s pretty kickass. She’s withdrawn, she’s mysterious, and she has a dark past. She’s fun, she’s intelligent, she’s a smart-ass, she’s straight up sexy as hell.

Film(s): Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)

(33) Alice

Alice is the main protagonist of the Resident Evil film series, who’s a former Umbrella security operative who defects to expose the corporation. She later becomes a major player in the battle against Umbrella. She’s later revealed to be the clone of Alicia Marcus, the daughter of co-founder James Marcus. She’s played by Milla Jovovich.

Despite the controversy surrounding the character (which is understandable) Alice is actually a compelling character. Yes, she’s a badass who’s seemingly invincible (due to a helluva lot of plot armor and poor writing) but she’s actually got a decent story behind her as well as a well-rounded personality. It’s safe to say that she’s become of our films most iconic heroic female characters.

Film(s): Resident Evil (2002), Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004), Resident Evil: Extinction (2007), Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010), Resident Evil: Retribution (2012), Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016)

(34) Tallahassee

Tallahassee is one of the main character of the Zombieland series and is a expert zombie killer, becoming proficient in a number of creative ways. He’s a loner with a chip on his shoulder after the death of his son, who was killed by zombies. He loves Twinkies and is a big fan of Bill Murray. he’s played by Woody Harrelson.

Tallahassee is the type of guy who’ll punch you in the face then help you back on your feet. He’s a tough guy with edge and a good sense of humor. He has some of the best kills in the series whether he’s using a melee weapon, a firearm, or even a vehicle. He definitely makes the list of zombie killers in films.

Film(s): Zombieland (2009), Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)

(35) Roger Murtaugh

Roger Murtaugh is a sergeant of the Los Angeles Police Department and one of the main protagonists of the Lethal Weapons series. He’s a homicide detective sergeant and was a lieutenant of the 173rd Airborne Brigade in the U.S. Army, and served in the Vietnam War. He’s played by Danny Glover.

Of all buddy cop movies, there’s a one character who’s by the book and the other is a wild card. Murtaugh is by the book and he does it well. Despite his grumpiness, he’s still a family man at heart. I love the chemistry he has with Riggs and he grounds the relationship. He also has some of the best lines in the series.

Film(s): Lethal Weapon (1987), Lethal Weapon 2 (1989), Lethal Weapon 3 (1992), Lethal Weapon 4 (1998)

(36) Veronica

Veronica is the main character of the film who’s a demon come from hell to Earth. She takes on the task of punishing anyone she sees as a sinner (and when we say punish we mean brutally kill). Veronica is portrayed by Angela Featherstone.

Make no mistake this is a pretty bad movie. However, when Veronica makes it to the human world things get interesting. She makes her mark by mercilessly killing those she believes are bad. Beautiful with some of the most intense eyes, she carries the movie with her black and white mindset, creepy presence, and and well written dialogue. Best scene is easily the police interrogation.

Film(s): Dark Angel: The Ascent (1994)

(37) Dr. King Schultz

Dr. King Schultz was a dentist-turned-bounty-hunter who frees Django and helps him rescue his wife. He’s from a wealthy family from Germany. He’s portrayed by Christoph Waltz.

Quentin Tarantino’s known for great characters and even greater dialogue. Schultz represents that in spades. He’s a well-written character, he’s an interesting character; his screen time is either informative or entertaining. One of Tarantino’s best characters.

Film(s): Django Unchained (2012)

(38) RoboCop

RoboCop is the main protagonist of the series of the same name. His real named is Alex Murphy and he was a police officer who was killed in the line of duty. Due to the megacorporation, Omni Consumer Products (OCP), Murphy is resurrected and transformed into a cyborg. The character has been portrayed by several actors: Peter Weller, Robert Burke, Richard Eden, Page Fletcher, and Joel Kinnaman.

Who doesn’t love RoboCop. If you grew up in the 80s and 90s, got to see him take on corrupt corporate executives, gangsters, and killer robots. I like the concept of the character and how as a man he does struggle with his new identity from time to time.

Film(s): RoboCop (1987), RoboCop 2 (1990), RoboCop 3 (1993), RoboCop (2014)

(39) John Connor

John is the future leader of the human resistance in a war against an empire of robotic Terminators amassed by the rogue military AI known as Skynet. John rises to prominence after Judgment Day, a cybernetic revolt doomsday event Skynet initiates which kills off most of humanity. John was portrayed by Edward Furlong, Michael Edwards, Nick Stahl, Christian Bale, Thomas Dekker, and Jason Clarke.

Like the series, the character of John Connor is an up and down roller coaster ride, depending on the performance. But as a character he’s awesome on a lot of levels. He’s born into a destiny in which he leads humanity to their salvation and that’s a lot of pressure. But it’s not just, the destination for the character, it’s his growth and journey.

Film(s): Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008-2009), Terminator Salvation (2009), Terminator Genisys (2015),

(40) The Mariner

The Mariner is a loner who we discover is a mutant adapted to living above and below water. He’s our main protagonist of the movie and Kevin Costner is just a straight up badass in this movie.

Every post-apocalyptic era movie needs to have its lone wanderer. Mad Max has Max Rockastanky, Escape from New York has Snake Plisken, and Water World as the Mariner. He’s a highly skilled survivalist, he’s a badass, he’s a man of few words and when he speaks it’s meaningful. Beneath his hard exterior he’s a great, kind hearted man, just use to being alone in a world where survival by any means is rule.

Film(s): Waterworld (1995)
