Top 20 DC Comics Movie Fights (6-10)

Welcome to another top ten post where we’re continuing our countdown for the best dc comics movie fights. We’re diving into the best of what the films have to offer: watching our heroes and villains get their battle royale on.

Rules:

  • Has to be from a movie; games and tv aren’t included
  • Can be live action or animated
  • Must be a hero vs hero, villain vs villain, or hero vs villain; henchmen aren’t counted

(6) Aquaman vs. Orm (Aquaman)

Talk about an underwater battle. Justice League made Aquaman’s ability to swim underwater cool. Aquaman made it look straight up badass. And to see it in a fight is freaking epic. Arthur and Pen battle to decide who’s going to rule Atlantis and boy is it entertaining. It’s fast paced, brutal, and the underwater effects as well as sound design are fantastic. It’s pure magic in cinematic sense but it’s the rivalry between two brothers that give it impact and depth.

(7) Hal Jordan vs. Sinestro (Green Lantern: First Flight)

There’s something about seeing the student surpass the master, and Hal and Sinestro’s battle definitely signifies this. Sinestro has betrayed the Green Lantern Corp and it’s up to Hal to stop him. The fight has many layers to it because Hal has to overcome so much. Proving that a human is worthy of wielding the ring. Proving that he can overcome the power of fear. Proving that he has what it takes to be a lantern. What makes this fight so significant is because of their weapons being projected through their will, the fight’s really diverse with how they attack each other and defend against those attacks.

(8) Superman and Supergirl vs. Darkseid (Superman/Batman: Apocalypse)

What better way to conclude such an awesome movie. After Darkseid kidnaps Supergirl, the gang go to Apokalips and put him in his place. However, Darkseid isn’t the type to let things go. He shows up at the Kent farm and all hell breaks loose. Supergirl has learned a lot under Darkseid’s influence and she puts everything she’s learned against him. It’s a fast paced fight with both sides using their abilities to the fullest. The Kent farm becomes the battleground for these god-like beings completely devastating it. It’s great seeing these characters being pushed to their limits and Darkseid shows why he’s the ruler of Apocalips. It’s just straight badass.

(9) Ozymandias vs. Nite Owl II and Rorschach (Watchmen)

There’s a lot to this fight but at its core it’s about morality. How far does one go to ensure peace. And the twist that the millions of deaths and the entire dark plot was orchestrated by one of their own. It’s a pretty good fight with the smartest man in the world easily wiping the floor with his former friends. It’s great seeing a hero of such high esteem become the villain. The fight’s just great in terms of the deeper story and how well it’s shot cinematically. The mixture of slow motion and fast shots make the blows look cool.

(10) Batman vs. Red Hood (Batman: Under the Red Hood)

A badass fight to conclude a badass movie. Someone new is in Gotham and he’s cleaning up the streets with extreme prejudice. It’s revealed to Jason Todd, one of Bruce’s apprentices. Naturally the Dark Knight doesn’t take to killing of any kind so the two clash. But it’s the emotional struggle that’s at the core of this fight. We finally get to see someone hold Batman accountable for all the deaths and chaos done by the Joker due to Batman’s rule of not killing (which he’s done several times but okay).
