DC Comics is one of the biggest juggernauts when it comes to comic books and their movie and tv adaptations. And let’s be honest, for as much as we love our heroes and following their stories we love seeing the epic hero against hero, hero against villain, and villain against villain action. DC’s films have done a fantastic job of showing what our characters can do in battle, adapting some of the best fights and most memorable fights.
Rules:
- Has to be from a movie; games and tv aren’t included
- Can be live action or animated
- Must be a hero vs hero, villain vs villain, or hero vs villain; henchmen aren’t counted
(1) Superman vs. Doomsday (The Death of Superman)
There aren’t a lot of bad guys bad enough to take on the Justice League and kick all their asses with ease but when Doomsday shows up, he does just that. But it’s its fight with Superman that’s the highlight of the film. The fight is just downright brutal as these two titans go blow for blow with all the destruction of magnitude 9.5 earthquake. It’s rare seeing Superman give his all in a fight but Doomsday takes it all while dishing out just as much. This is guaranteed to satisfy even the most casual of Superman fans.
(2) Wonder Woman and Big Barda vs. The Furies (Superman/Batman: Apocalypse)
Wonder Woman is DC’s ultimate superherione, a Amazon warrior goddess who’s a beast on the battlefield, and it’s great seeing her cut loose. When Darkseid kidnaps Supergirl it’s up to Batman, Superman, Big Barda, and Wonder Woman to save her. What’s so unique about this fight is that it’s a fight between women and they aren’t playing. Each has they’re own fighting style and works well with the side they’re on. Its choreography is great and seeing these powerful women go at it is entertaining.
(3) Batman vs Bane (The Dark Knight Rises)
There was a lot of controversy when it came to this movie, particularly Tom Hardy’s incarnation as Bane. Although not as physically intimidating as his comic book counterpart Hardy was still impressive. Batman pursues Bane into the sewers and we get to have our first showdown between the two. The scene is brutal with the two squaring off as Bane’s henchmen and Catwoman watch. Despite Batman’s best efforts he is easily beaten by the brute, has his mask smashed, and even gets his back broken. What makes iy more gripping is the lack of music. All that can be heard are the blows and grunts from both men. It’s cool seeing Batman get beat in such a brutal fashion.
(4) Superman vs Faora and Namek (Man of Steel)
This is one of the fights that shows how little humans are compared to Kryptonians. Clark injures Did but he’s got backup in the form of the sexy ass Faora and the menacing Namek. It’s a brutal fight with the two jumping Clark whose actually holding his own despite the two having more fighting experience. Smallville gets completely wrecked in the fight and any efforts by the military are pretty futile. But seeing these aliens fight unrestrained is a Superman fan dream come true.
(5) Flash vs. Professor Zoom (Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox)
It’s hard in my opinion to get a good Flash fight because of the nature of his abilities: super speed. However, this fight manages to capitalize on it. Flash inadvertently changes the world when he travels through time to save his mother. He attempts to fix his mistake but is stopped by Zoom. The fight’s fast paced and utilizes both characters speed to the fullest while being in the midst of a war between Atlanteans and Amazons that threatens to envelop the world. The fight takes them through the war torn streets, through the air, and even across the ocean.
