Horror has had its hand in television as long as it has had its hand in literature and film. And with the growth of various streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Shutter and with the explosion of the internet there are a ton more television shows.
Horror in tv isn’t something new so this list will definitely include older shows. Now these aren’t the scariest tv shows ever, but they are some of my favorite shows with strong horror elements.

1) Z Nation
Three years after the zombie virus has gutted the United States of America a team of everyday heroes must transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood.

5) Scream: The TV Series
A serialized anthology series that follows a group of teenagers being targeted by a masked serial killer.

Sheriff Deputy Rick Grimes wakes up from a coma to learn the world is in ruins and must lead a group of survivors to stay alive.

7) The Haunting of Hill House
Flashing between past and present, a fractured family confronts haunting memories of their old home and the terrifying events that drove them from it.

8) The Strain
The show centers around Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the CDC’s New York-based Canary Project, who is called upon to investigate an airplane landing wherein everyone aboard is dead. What his team discovers is a viral outbreak that has similarities to an ancient strain of vampirism. The virus begins to spread and Goodweather works with his team and a group of the city’s residents to wage a war to save humanity.
