She-Hulk (2005) #23 – Jaded Episode Two Review

A nice, simple mission for She-Hulk has gone horribly wrong as, deafened and reeling, she finds herself facing the combined might of the Absorbing Man and Titania.

I can appreciate Peter David’s writing and direction for the story. The scene opens up with a great introduction about two guys watching a movie and complainging about the 3D when She-Hulk comes flying through the screen. Loved the pacing which helped keep the action good. His characterization of the characters is good. Jen’s appearance in the previous issue raised some interesting questions but the story does resolve the mystery behind Jen Walters (as she’s revealed to be a Skrull).

Loved the battle between She-Hulk and Creel. It was intense, there was a lot of collateral damage, showcasing the best of both characters’ abilities. Especially showing how diverse Creel’s absorbing abilities. I’ve never cared for the character but I can honestly say this issue has got me interested. She-Hulk is one of my favorite Marvel characters and it’s good seeing her in action. But I also appreciate how she doesn’t want to fight him because of her change of profession. It shows that the character has evolved and not just a goodie to shoes. I liked the bit of humor with a broken necked Jen taking Rocky Davis into custody.

I really enjoyed Shawn Moll’s arts style. Creel’s character designs are awesome and shows how diverse his abilities are. Really liked the shark form. The fights are captured with a keen eye, keeping it intense and brutal. You feel like two powerhouses are battling each other, especially with the devastation caused from their fight.

I have to admit that I love the cover art and that Mike Deodato and Rain Beredo did an awesome job. Not only do they capture the strength and sex appeal to She-Hulk but they give her this dark, edgy look. The intensity in her eyes just shows how serious she is.

The Verdict: In the end, She-Hulk #23 – Jaded Episode Two is actually an awesome issue. I liked the writing and the art style and really appreciated the badass fight so a big thumbs up to Peter David and Shawn Moll. She-Hulk #23 – Jaded Episode Two gets 4 out of 5.
