The ability to control water is as prominent as the ability to control fire. Water is life but it can also bring plenty of destruction. Some characters have the ability to control water. Others can generate it or even transform into it. In this post, we’re counting down ten awesome water based anime characters.
10. Zabuza Momochi (Naruto / Naruto: Shipudden)
Zabuza, also known as the Demon of the Hidden Mist and a former member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, is very proficient in Water Release techniques. He can summon and maintain several water clones, unleash powerful water-based attacks, and even summon thick mist to blind targets.
9. Aquarius (Fairy Tail)
Aquarius is a Celestial Spirit that is one of the 12 Golden Zodiac Keys who uses Water Magic as her primary source of combat. She is able to control water through her urn; shooting large torrents of water, release a stream of bubbles, and creating huge pillars of water to attack opponents.
8. Tobirama Senju (Naruto / Naruto: Shipudden)
Despite being able to manipulate all nature transformations he is best known for his mastery of Water Release. He could create vast quantities of water without a present water source enabling him to shoot high-pressured streams from his mouth, form needle-shaped projectiles to catch an opponent off-guard, and even create defensive walls or large water dragons to assault his opponents.
7. Blastoise (Pokemon)
Blastoise is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Blastoise can naturally shoot water from its large cannons at great force and can even fire water bullets with amazing accuracy.
6. Sloth (Fullmetal Alchemist)
A Homunculus initially created by the series’ protagonists Edward and Alphonse Elric in an attempt to transmute their deceased mother Trisha back to life. Sloth has the ability to alter her body into pure water, allowing for espionage and fast transportation (even in bodies of water), she can also ensnare or envelop her enemies, causing them to drown.
5. Suigetsu Hozuki (Naruto: Shipudden)
Suigetsu Hōzuki is a shinobi from Kirigakure’s Hōzuki clan and is well versed in the clan’s secret Water Release technique to transform his body into a liquid form, and to return to his solid bodily form at will. This ability also allows him to change his body shape, giving him the ability to increase the size of his limbs, can merge with already existing water to increase his attack range, capable of creating clones made of water, and can fire compressed, highly pressurized water bullets from the tips of his index fingers.
4. Ayase Terada (s-Cry-ed)
Her alter ability is “Noble Tempest.” When it is active, anything her hair touches turns into water and when her abilities are later refined, give her complete control of water: apparating a large and violent volume of water from her feet, manipulate the flow and velocity of currents within a body of water, can trigger immediate and multiple watery explosions in rapid succession, and even can summon razor-sharp icicles.
3. Kisame Hoshigaki (Naruto / Naruto: Shipudden)
Known as the Monster of the Hidden Mist, Kisame joined both the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist and then the Akatsuki. Kisame was a master of Water Release techniques, being able to alter an entire battlefield by create a large volume of water to give him the field advantage, and to use for attacks which are usually shark-themed. He can even create a giant dome of water around himself, forcing his opponents to battle him underwater.
2. Juvia Lockser (Fairy Tail)
Juvia is an extremely skilled user of Water Magic, which allows her to produce, control, and manipulate water. She can use the water in a variety of different ways, such as producing blades of water that can even slice through solid rock and metal, create waves of tremendous power and force, trapping opponents in mini-prisons made of her water, and can even turn into water.
1. Tier Harribel (Bleach)
Tier is an Arrancar and the former Tres (3rd) Espada in Sōsuke Aizen’s army until the latter’s defeat. In her Resurrección form, her primary ability is the creation and manipulation of water. The water used for her attacks is generated by the gill markings on her blade which she can launch a rushing surge of water at her enemy, can condense large amounts of water around her blade and can fire multiple blasts in rapid succession, and even boils any form of water that comes close to her blade, including ice, and deflects it around her.
