Top 10 Video Game Lightning Users

There have been a ton of great characters who’ve used lightning based techniques or are lightning themed.

 1. Blanka (Street Fighter)

When using his signature attack, Electric Thunder, he crouches and emits an electrical current shocking anyone and anything it touches.


2. Cole MacGrath (inFamous)

Formerly a bike messenger, Cole has the ability to channel lightning in and out of his body as a result of surviving a blast by an activated Ray Sphere, a device that unlocks the powers of those with Conduit genes.


3. Raiden (Mortal Kombat)

Raiden is the god of thunder and lightning, and as such, he is immensely powerful and has complete control over electricity.  Using the element of lightning, Raiden can fire torrents of lightning or concentrated blasts, in addition to being able to form fully fledged thunderstorms.


4. Raiden (Metal Gear Solid)

Due to his cyborg body’s design, he could sometimes generate electricity.  Raiden demonstrated lightning-like powers, conducting electricity all over his body with which he struck down several of the would-be attackers after he turned on the ceiling sprinklers, allowing him to create electric bolts in the air until the water stopped.


5. Storm (X-Men/Marvel vs. Capcom)

Storm is a mutant with the ability to control the weather.  Among her many abilities she can summon lightning storms.


6. Kakashi Hatake (Naruto)

Although Kakashi is able to use all five basic nature transformations, his main affinity is Lightning Release.  He created the Chidori, a collection of lightning chakra in the hand that can pierce most targets that it is thrust into.


7. Thor (Marvel: Ultimate Alliance/Marvel vs. Capcom)

Thor is the Asgardian God of Thunder and as such, he’s able to summon elements of a storm.  His more powerful offensive abilities is his ability to channel lightning through his Mjolnir of varying intensities.


8. Zeus (God of War)

Being the God of Lightning, Zeus can generate lightning in multiple ways, such as creating a giant spear made out of lightning, generating lightning out of his palms, and various other ways.


9. Pikachu (Pokemon)

Pikachu is a electric-type Pokemon and as such has the ability to generate electricity through its electric sacs in its cheeks.  In the game, a Pikachu has multiple lightning based abilities such as Static (which causes paralysis), Volt Tackle (electrifies itself, then charges at the foe), and Lightning (bolt of lightning discharge). Pikachu release the built-up energy through their tail, which acts as a grounding rod, to safely remove unneeded energy.


10. Starkiller (Star Wars)

Galen Marek, codenamed Starkiller, was a Force-sensitive Human male who trained in the ways of the dark side of the Force.  As a trained Sith apprentice, Marek became extremely proficient in Force lightning. He could cast energy so powerful that it would kill an opponent with a single blast, could target more than one opponent at a time, to channel lightning attacks through his lightsaber, charging up or shorting out certain types of machinery, and deflect and absorb it.
