Geoff Johns, writer best known for some of his works involving Superman, Flash, and Batman, plans on breathing new life into the Green Lantern mythos, “reinventing” the story to fit into the DC Extended Universe.
“It’s a complete re-imagining, just like I did Green Lantern: Rebirth in the comics,” Johns said to IGN at Comic-Con International in San Diego.” He also added, “If you’ve read my Green Lantern run… it’s very much in line with some stuff we did in there.”
Many a fan were disappointed in Martin Campbell’s 2011 Green Lantern film starring Ryan Reynolds, Angela Bassett, Blake Lively, and Mark Strong. Since the interstellar enforcer’s first feature film left a bad taste in many fan’s mouths, studios have been hesitant to give the hero another shot.
“I’m going to be hopefully delivering a script that Warner loves and DC likes and they want to make it,” Johns concluded. As of now, there isn’t any information regarding possible casting choices or a director, but we can hope that more information will be released soon.
