Universal Monsters

Now there’s going to be a Monsters Cinematic Universe (or more correctly Universal Monsters) involving all of the movie monsters and I think one or two new ones. The movies first start off with Dracula Untold which basically gives Dracula an origin story and for the most part it was a pretty good movie although there were some problems with the script. Now there was a really good set up that did allude to further movies including Dracula and the other ones that have been announced.

We can conclude that these films will culminate into a mass team up of the monsters or possibly a war between them. Now there have been several things that have featured several of the movie monsters that was Albert and Costello Meet Dracula, Van Helsing, The Monster Squad, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen; but there is a sense that this will be on a bigger scale. Movie monsters that have been announced include the Invisible Man, The Wolfman, Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and Van Helsing.
There has been a release date and trailer for the new Mummy reboot which actually looks pretty cool and the new direction they’re going with the mummified character will be presented as a woman which would definitely be fair considering that really the other movie monsters are all men (except for the Bride of Frankenstein).

That’s great to see that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (well, Universal Monsters definitely did it first in the 20’s through the 50’s) did influence of the franchise’s to bring several characters together after establishing their own individual movies. However, one thing I did notice is that these new movies establishes that these characters are rather powerful so what kind of events would cause all of these creatures to come together whether they’re going to fight it out or to team up. One can only wait and see.
