Tom Holland Spider-Man

The Spider-Man has been one of the most critically acclaimed superheroes when it comes to film. There was Tobey Maguire who portrayed him in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man series. Then there was Andrew Garfield who portrayed him in The Amazing Spider-Man series. Now that’s not to say that the new Spider-Man is bad and in fact was actually really good. This post is going to break down some of the best qualities of Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man.

Now Tom Holland is a pretty young cat and his youthful enthusiasm is portrayed really well to the character of Peter Parker in the Captain America: Civil War film. That same youthful energy helps to fuel the cocky, the energetic, the over-enthusiastic Spider-Man persona which works really well. So in terms of personality Tom Holland definitely gives the edge to both Peter Parker struggles with everyday life as well as balancing his Spider-Man in real life and the Spider-Man persona. Think about how much the character talked during the fight sequences, how it did somewhat annoy the other characters but also it does show a bit of cockiness to the character as well as naivety.

Now the film gives us two alternate costumes of Spider-Man in the Captain America: Civil War film. The first is an amateur custom-made outfit that does support his lack of funds. A ragtag gathering of clothing that an everyday citizen would possess as well as goggles to cover up the eyes as well as a mask. However, the costume undergoes an extreme makeover thanks to Tony Stark and actually represents that of the original source material of the red and blue outfit with the spider webbing like design. Some new additions to the outfits are the cybernetic implants which specifically are shown around the eyes so that the mask reflects the expression of the face underneath it. Also, a more efficient web slinging as well as discharge. So the costume design as well as the evolution of it actually looks pretty good and works out pretty well.

Now let’s talk about the characteristics of movement and fighting style. This version of Spider-Man does show a competency when it comes to physical combat. Some more prominent features are his strengths which was shown when basically catching the punch from The Winter Soldier as well as his agility while being pursued by Falcon. Another pretty cool feature was his resilience on the webbing and how he utilized it.

And lastly I would like to actually point out on the setting of his character. One of the most pronounced features is his younger Aunt May and I think because he’s a younger character it does allow him to be able to relate to her a bit more especially with the changing times with technology and a world that is being introduced to superpower beings, Gods, aliens, and enhanced humans.

All-in-all, Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man was actually really good; it was likable, he was enjoyable. The new Spider-Man: Homecoming film definitely has a great character to build up from and hopefully the world and setting in the story and in the life of that character get the exposition that it so richly deserves. Tom Holland has the potential to be the very best Spider-Man yet.
