What’s the news of the Charmed reboot?

A Charmed reboot could still be coming to television.  The CW network has been working on getting the reboot off the ground for some time now, but probably not with its original stars Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Rose McGowan, and Shannen Doherty.  There has been much debate concerning the Charmed reboot with the executive producer Jennie Urman, who developed Jane the Virgin, at the forefront.  Also, with Jennie, there is executive producers Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin.

Charmed was a 1998 supernatural drama series that ran for eight seasons, from 1998-2006 created by Constance M. Burge and produced by Aaron Spelling.  The show followed the “Charmed Ones”, three sisters destined to save the world from evil using the “Power of Three”. The main sisters, Piper (Holly Marie Combs), Phoebe (Alyssa Milano), and Prue Halliwell (Shannen Doherty until her death in season 3), when she was replaced by their cousin, Paige Matthews (Rose McGowan), are witches.

The main plot is set as a prequel set in 1976 in which a trio of young women discover that their magical powers bind them together as the “Power of Three”.  Interesting premise right? Yes, but unfortunately The CW didn’t pick up the pilot.  There is a comic book continuation by Dynamite which is written by Erica Schultz, art by Maria Sanapo.
