Disney is going in the right direction when it comes to making live adaptations of certain franchises under their name. We had Maleficent (2014), Snow White (2012), Cinderella (2015), and Peter Pan (2003). And with the Beauty and the Beast (2017) film coming out soon Mulan is good step in the right direction.
Mulan is one of my all-time favorite Disney animated films. It does tell a thrilling and compelling story while being emotionally powerful as well as humorous. Actually pretty cool movie.
Now aside from picking a talented enough director as well as a really good cast there is the idea that the story would be on point. Should this story be a rehash of the animated film or should it be much deeper?
And there is the idea of who could play Mulan. The challenge in casting this character lies in the fact that Mulan is a very soft, vulnerable and nice woman who becomes stronger, who becomes harder and casting the actress that is able to exude that softness and then gradually become more experienced more stronger is a challenge.
