It is 1990 and we’re starting to gain more momentum in Hollywood. Here’s our look into horror movies of 1990.

- Tales from the Darkside: The Movie – The film depicts the frame story of a kidnapped paperboy who tells three stories of horror to the suburban witch who is preparing to eat him. Directed by John Harrison.
- Night of the Living Dead – The film follows seven strangers as they meet and survive in a rural farmhouse, following the awakening of cannibalistic zombies. Directed by Tom Savini.
- Stephen King’s It – The story revolves around a predatory monster that can transform itself into its prey’s worst fears to devour them, allowing it to exploit the phobias of its victims. Directed by Tommy Lee Wallace.
4-Star Ranking – Top 10 Worthy
- Tremors – In the film, handymen Val McKee and Earl Bassett wish to leave the small desert town of Perfection, Nevada but must fight for survival against giant, prehistoric, worm-like monsters hungry for human flesh. Directed by Ron Underwood.
- Shakma – It follows a group of young adults who are battling a baboon which has been driven insane by an experimental drug. Directed by Hugh Parks and Tom Logan.
- Misery – The plot centers around an obsessive fan who holds an author captive and forces him to rewrite the finale to his book series. Directed by Rob Reiner.
3-Star Ranking – Good Entertainment
- Gremlins 2: The New Batch – The story continues the adventures of the creature Gizmo who spawns numerous small monsters within a skyscraper in New York City thus posing a serious threat to the city should they be able to leave the building. Directed by Joe Dante.
- Arachnophobia – The film follows a small California town that becomes invaded by an aggressive and dangerous spider species. Directed by Frank Marshall.
- Child’s Play 2 – set two years after the first film; the plot follows Charles Lee Ray (better known as Chucky) continuing his pursuit for Andy Barclay, who was placed in foster care, and transferring his soul into him after being resurrected. Directed by John Lafia.
2-Star Ranking – Could’ve Been Better
- The Guardian – A mysterious nanny is hired by new parents to care for their infant son, but the couple soon discover the previous clients’ children went missing under her care. Directed by William Friedkin.
- Graveyard Shift – In a very old textile mill with a serious rat infestation, deadly accidents start happening, but the corrupt foreman continues to put his workers in danger, until they discover a horrifying secret deep in the basement. Directed by Ralph S. Singleton.
1-Star Ranking – Total Trash
- Troll 2 – The plot follows young Joshua Waits as he tries to save his family after being warned by the spirit of his deceased grandfather that the town of Nilbog, in which the family are spending their vacation, is actually inhabited by goblins who turn people into plant matter so they can eat them. Directed by Claudio Fragasso.
