20. Lt. Commander Data – Star Trek Generations (1994)

Lieutenant Commander Data was a Soong-type android, the first and only such being to ever enter Starfleet.


19. Marvin – The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (2005)

Marvin, the Paranoid Android, is one of many failed prototypes of Sirius Cybernetics Corporation’s GPP (Geniune People Personalities) technology, who suffers from severe depression and boredom.  He claims to be 50,000 times more intelligent than a human.


18. Pris – Blade Runner (1982)

Priscilla Stratton, or Pris, is a “basic pleasure model”, created for entertainment, and girlfriend of replicant Roy Batty.  She is quite adept at manipulation of the human male and deadly in close combat.


17. Cain – RoboCop 2 (1990)

Cain was a religiously fanatical leader of the Nuke cult who was violently insane, and hopelessly addicted to Nuke and godlike in his delusions.  After his “death” he was reconstructed to become RoboCop 2, but due to his addiction and unpredictable personality he became a dangerously, powerful cyborg.


16. Rodney Copperbottom – Robots (2005)

Rodney Copperbottom is the son of dishwasher Herb Copperbottom and his wife, Lydia. Rodney is an aspiring inventor who idolizes the famous Bigweld. Rodney’s dream is to go to Robot City to work as an inventor for Bigweld Industries.


15. Megatron – Transformers (2007)

Megatron is the viciously powerful and brutal leader of the Decepticons, and former protector of Cybertron’s and commander of its Defense Force.  For all his evils, Megatron genuinely strives to save his home planet some day, and with it, the Cybertronian race: even if it means he has to rule it with his iron fist and put his bloodlust to good use to do so.


14. T-X – Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003)

The T-X, aka Terminatrix, is one of Skynet’s most advanced Terminator units, which was sent back in time to July 24, 2004. Her primary mission was to terminate John Connor. Since he lived off the grid, the Terminatrix focused instead on terminating Connor’s future officers of the Resistance. She’s possibly the sexiest robot on this list.


13. Chappie – Chappie (2015)

An attack robot installed with a prototype artificial intelligence software that allows him think and feel for himself.  He was created by Deon Wilson who works for Tetravaal.


12. EVE – WALL-E (2008)

EVE (Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator) is an advanced probe droid who is one of several robots who are sent to Earth on a scanning mission.  An advanced model equipped with a quasar ion cannon and capable of flight at high speeds.


11. Ava – Ex Machina (2015)

Ava is a humanoid robot built with artificial intelligence by brilliant CEO Nathan Bateman.  Brilliant performances by Alicia Vikander who manages bring such humanity to the character.


10. Lance Bishop – Aliens (1986)

Lance Bishop was a Hyperdyne Systems model 341-B synthetic technician with the United States Colonial Marine Corps, assigned to 2nd Battalion Bravo Team. He served as Executive Officer aboard the USS Sulaco, and as such was part of the combat unit deployed to LV-426 in 2179, to investigate the sudden loss of contact with the colony of Hadley’s Hope.


9. Johnny 5 – Short Circuit (1986)

Part of a series of prototype U.S. military S.A.I.N.T. (Strategic Artificially Intelligent Nuclear Transport) robots, Johnny 5 was hit by a lightning-induced power surge.  As a result, the surge scrambled its programming, giving it free will and a humanlike intelligence.


8. R2-D2 – Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977)

A small, spunky droid, R2-D2 is a R2 series astromech droid manufactured by Industrial Automaton with masculine programming. He is often accompanied by the protocol droid C-3PO.


7. SID 6.7 – Virtuosity (1995)

SID 6.7 (Sadistic, Intelligent, Dangerous) is a ruthless virtual cyborg and serial killer who killed people from virtual reality.  He was brought to life with the use of nanites and is the combination of several violent criminals and psychopaths.


6. Baymax – Big Hero 6 (2014)

Baymax is a healthcare robot built by Tadashi Hamada and a member of the superhero team Big Hero 6.


5. Optimus Prime – Transformers (2007)

Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots and former leader of Cybertron’s science division.


4. T-1000 – Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)

T-1000 Advanced Prototype is a Series 1000 Terminator sent by Skynet from the future to terminate John Connor’s younger self. It was the second Infiltrator sent back on assassination missions by Skynet.


3. K-2SO – Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)

A pragmatic droid, K-2SO is a reprogrammed Imperial security droid now loyal to the Rebel Alliance.  An effective insertion agent, he can blend in perfectly at Imperial installations and outposts.


2. The Iron Giant – The Iron Giant (1999)

He is a 50-foot tall autonomous robot from another world that crash lands on Earth before becoming friends with a young boy named Hogarth who rescues him from his own internal defensive mechanism which activates when recognizing anything as a weapon.


1. RoboCop – RoboCop (1987)

Prior to his reconstruction, Officer Alex Murphy was a Detroit police officer.  RoboCop is a robotically enhanced Detroit police officer designated as OCP Crime Prevention Unit 001.
