Episode 6 – A Portal of Mystery

Episode 6 – A Portal of Mystery starts off after Episode 5 – Order Up where Jesse, Petra, Lukas, and Ivor emerge into a corridor filled with portals and the group emerge in a new world with two moons.  They quickly discover a mysterious book but are immediately attacked by a mob of zombies.  The book is an invitation to a nearby mansion and the group race towards it as an increasing number of monsters attack them.  The mansion grounds are swarming with zombies and although the group are swarmed they manage to get into the mansion.  There they meet Captain Sparklez and TorqueDawg who the latter is killed when the lights are turned off, then turned back on.  They meet the other guests; Dan, Lizzie, CassieRose, StampyCat, Winslow, and StacyPlays.  Sparklez goes to make an announcement but is dumped into a hole in the floor and buried, killing him.  Afterwards the host, known as the White Pumpkin appears stating that he wants something from the guests and that he is willing to murder them to find it.  After searching for clues Jesse and Lukas discover that the White Pumpkin is one of the guests.  Jesse and Petra interrogate Stampy, Lizzie, Dan, and Lukas but aren’t sure which one.  Petra, Jesse, and Ivor discover a secret passageway within the house while searching for clues and discover the White Pumpkin but Lizzie is killed by a group of spiders in the ensuing altercation.  Lukas is framed as the White Pumpkin and locked away in a closet by the group.  They discover an underground lair and discovers the White Pumpkin is responsible for creating the sea of zombies.  StampyCat appears and confesses he stole the flint and steel from Dan as a joke.   They find the White Pumpkin’s lair and with all the evidence there, discover that Cassie Rose is the White Pumpkin, who reveals that she killed the others to find the flint and steel to escape the world she’s been trapped in.  The situation escalates but before the Cassie can attack the others she falls victim to one of her own traps.  Afterwards the group emerge from the house as the sun has risen and all of the zombies have vanished, with the two groups going their separate ways.  Jesse attempts to activate the portal but it fails and the ground collapses beneath them.  They discover that Cassie is still alive and that she has laid one last trap which she offers them an ultimatum: give her the flint and steel or they drop into a group of Endermytes.  Jesse engages Cassie and with the help of Petra, Lukas, and Ivor manage to retrieve the flint and steel and defeat and trap her.  Episode 6 – A Portal of Mystery ends with Jesse activating the hidden portal and the group stepping through.

The Verdict:  In the end, although Episode 6 – A Portal of Mystery does set a different tone for the Minecraft and one that doesn’t seem as big but just as cool as their previous adventures.  Awesome how the episode incorporates the killer amongst us trope while bringing a fresh face to it.  Our heroes have dealt with vicious monsters but how do they hold up against a killer in their midst? The episode was pretty suspenseful with great characters. Episode 6 – A Portal of Mystery gets 3 out of 5.
