Episode 8 – A Journey’s End

Episode 7 – Access Denied ends with Harper revealing a secret staircase.  Episode 8 – A Journey’s End begins the Order of the Stone ascending the staircase however Harper shoves them through a doorway at the top.  The group fall into the middle of an arena and after engaging in battle with the combatants Ivor and Lukas are seemingly killed.  The Old Builders, Hadrian, Mevia, and Otto appear and inform the remaining two that they aren’t dead.  Harper appears and Jesse offers the Redstone Heart in exchange for the Atlas but agrees to fighting in the Extreme Spleef arena.

With the help of another contestant, Nell, Jesse is able to convince one of the guards to release Ivor and Lukas.  Before the next round of Spleef, Jesse and Petra are approached by Green Team and form an alliance.  During the race, they enter Gladiator junction where Em, the leader of Green Team, betrays Jesse and Petra is killed.  Em later betrays teammate Nell but is saved by Jesse. Jesse loses the race, Petra is respawned, and it is revealed that the Em made a deal with Hadrian whom Jesse later meets.  Hadrian reveals that he’s captured Axel and Olivia in hopes of manipulating Jesse to forfeit the games.  Jesse then attempts to unite the other contestants against the Old Builders before the finale match.

During the final match, with Jesse being at a heavy disadvantage due to lack of resources, Em helps him unite the rest of the contestants and the gladiators stand down.  Although Otto declares Jesse the winner, Hadrian and Mevia trap him and many of the other contestants, before attacking Jesse.  He gets the upper hand on Hadrian but is killed by Mevia.

After he respawns he is joined by Em, Harper, and the Order of the Stone who help him take on both Mevia and Hadrian and eventually defeats them.  With the help of Otto and the Atlas they set the contestants free and back to their own worlds.  The Order of the Stone make it back to their world, but after Ivor steals the enchanted flint and steel as well as the Atlas, the group decide to relax and let Ivor have his adventures.  Episode 8 – A Journey’s End ends with Mevia and Hadrian stuck in a land filled with zombies the size of chickens alluding to the joke Olivia told Jesse at the beginning of the game.

The Verdict: In the end, Episode 8 – A Journey’s End is an awesome conclusion to a fantastic game.  The Old Builders were a really cool antagonistic force.  The games were pretty cool especially the race.  Also, glad that Olivia and Axel made an appearance.  Episode 8 – A Journey’s End gets 4 out of 5.
