The Lion King Live Action Remake Confirmed

the-lion-king-jon-favreauPersonally this is the next step when it comes to Disney. They’ve had several successful live-action adapted films including Maleficent (2014), Pete’s Dragon (2016), Cinderella (2016), and The Jungle Book (2016). The Lion King is without a doubt one of Disney’s most well-known animated films of all time and with the new age of technology in the film industry what is the next logical step? To bring these characters to life.

Jon Favreau has been hired on to be the director of the film.  Favreau is an actor with numerous roles under his belt as well as a talented director.  Some movies that he’s directed are Iron Man (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Cowboys & Aliens (2011), and Zathura (2005).  He is also responsible for the success of The Jungle Book, so we’re all in for him directing the movie.

Now, this could be piggybacking off of the success of The Jungle Book which then featured an entire cast of CGI animals. And with a compelling story, terrific visual effects as well as the talented voice performers the film was successful. So The Lion King is definitely one of those films that deserves a live-action adaptation and it hasn’t been now that it’s possible. It is a great idea and the direction that Disney is taken by coming out with these live adaptations is a great direction.

We can only hope that it will contain the wonder, the message, the enjoyable moments that the animated film had as well as creating new ones. Those are just some thoughts about The Lion King remake. It’s been a long time coming.
