  • The War of the Worlds (1897) – The story follows an unnamed protagonist in Surrey and his younger brother in London during an invasion by Martians.

  • The Time Machine (1895) – An English scientist and inventor develops a vehicle to travel 800,000 years into the future to find that humans have evolved into two races.
  • The Invisible Man (1897) – The story follows Griffin, a scientist who has developed a procedure that renders his body invisible but fails in his attempt to reverse it.

3-Star Ranking – Good Entertainment

  • The Island of Doctor Moreau (1986) – A shipwrecked man by the name of Edward Prendick is left on the island home of Doctor Moreau, a mad scientist who creates human-like hybrid beings from animals via vivisection.
  • The First Men in the Moon (1900) – The story follows businessman Mr. Bedford and scientist Mr. Cavor who discover that the Moon is inhabited by a sophisticated extraterrestrial civilization of insect-like creatures they call “Selenites”.
