Another ridiculous individual attempting to rally the problacks to cause division here in America. A Change.org petition is calling on Marvel Studios and The Walt Disney Company to invest 25 percent of the profits for Black Panther into the black community.
Created by a user named Chaz Gormley, the petition’s description said that Marvel and Walt Disney Company have “targeted the black community with their advertisements” for the film. Black Panther has already proven to be a big hit with critics.
This is the first superhero film with a majority black cast, black director and art direction helmed by black artists which in itself is a feat that should be applauded.

25% of Marvel Studios Profits From The “Black Panther” Film Invested in Black Communities
I was thoroughly disgusted at having read this trash because of how disingenuous the statement is. Disney does not need to give anything back to the “black community” and those who are signing this petition are just out of their minds.
True, blacks superheroes aren’t as prominent as whites and true blacks aren’t usually portrayed positively in movies. But a large majority of this is because black people aren’t portraying themselves in a positive light or making black superhero movies. In a world of Real Housewives of Atlanta, Straight Outta Compton, Power, Atlanta, Empire, and the Madea movies or black directors and producers such as Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Spike Lee, Will Smith, and Lee Daniels there’s no reason for blacks not to make their own superhero movies or movies where blacks are presented in a positive light.
Throughout the last twenty years of film making, there have been a lot of black movies as well as superhero movies, but until now one actual black superhero movie directed by a black man with a majority black cast. And boy was that movie a joke. The 1993 The Meteor Man written and directed by Robert Townsend.
This isn’t the only controversy surrounding this movie. There’s the boycott with blacks against the movie because Michael B. Jordan was/is dating a white woman and there is the fiasco with Rotten Tomatoes. There is something that is bugging me about this travesty. I attempted to look up who Chaz Gormley is in an effort to get a feel for the person and oddly enough, I can’t find really any information concerning them.
Personally, I’m happy and ready to watch this movie. I don’t know really anything about Black Panther aside from the basics and it is the MCU that has gotten me into the character. Best believe, I don’t give a damn about this petition and will happily go see and support it.
