Waylon Jones was born with a genetic mutation giving him a reptile’s skin, sharp claws, and teeth; due to genetic atavism. Croc became a circus wrestler who would rise to become one of Batman’s most physically imposing rogues. He is most at home in the sewers of Gotham City, and it is there that he usually makes his lair. This post consist of five of my favorite versions of Killer Croc.
In the non-canon graphic novel, Joker, written by Brian Azzarello and artist Lee Bermejo, Croc is portrayed as a large, muscular black man with a scaly skin condition. It’s nice to see a more grounded version of the character that’s not just a mindless beast.
4. DC Animated Universe
Croc undergoes a monstrous transformation after ingesting a special mutagen from Kirk Langstrom (Man-Bat), granting him extra muscle mass and a reptilian tail. Dude just straight looks badass and I like the further explanation behind his mutation. He’s voiced by Fred Tatasciore.
3. Suicide Squad (2016)
I think it’s safe to say that this version is incredibly badass. Not only does he look extremely cool, but despite his bestial personality, he has a lot of humor and heart. He even nearly gets himself killed. He’s portrayed by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
The animated series made all of its characters memorable and Killer Croc is no exception. His large physique, lumpy gray scales, sharp teeth, and strong accent made for a great design, although it’s different from the traditional look. He’s voiced by Aron Kincaid.
The character design is definitely the most bestial, he’s physically imposing standing at eleven feet. The guy’s a cannibalistic murdering behemoth and there’s no way Batman can defeat him in a contest of strengths. He’s voiced by Steven Blum.
