‘Black Lightning’ Drama Will Potentially Move to CW

EXCLUSIVE: DC character, Black Lightning, will potentially strike on the CW.

Black Lightning is an upcoming superhero drama based on the DC character of the same name will join the DC universe set up by Greg Berlanti, who produced the series Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl. Also working on the project is the creator of the show The Game, Girlfriends, and Being Mary Jane, Mara Brock Akil and her husband Salim Akil.

The series is focused on the DC character created by Tony Isabella and Trevor Von Eeden. Jefferson Pierce (Williams) has hung up his suit and the Black Lightning persona years ago, but with his daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as his former alter ego.

The character of Jefferson Pierce, aka Black Lightning, will be played by Cress Williams. Williams, who has been active for over two decades, seems like a seasoned actor so it will be interesting seeing how he brings the character to life.

Will this series be DC’s counter to Marvel’s Luke Cage?
