Akatsuki is a mysteious group of shinobi in the anime series Naruto, comprised of criminals and other outlaws.  Founded by Yahiko during the Third Shinobi World War, the Akatsuki (which means “Dawn” or “Daybreaker”) are a group of shinobi that exist outside of the usual system of hidden villages.  Over the course of several decades, the Akatsuki took different forms and was led by different individuals who seek to make the world a better place through their own means.
