Come on now, we honestly knew that this list was coming.  With all of the feminism raging across society like a bad case of herpes, there has been a large demand for strong female characters in film and television.  This is a list of 15 badass female characters in film.

15. Faora Hu-Ul

Portrayal: Antje Traue



Film: Man of Steel (2013)

General Zod’s sub-commander and a commander of the Kryptonian military, who is completely devoted and loyal to Zod. A powerful woman who definitely gave Superman a run for his money.

14. Tauriel

Portrayal: Evangeline Lilly



Film: The Hobbit film series

Her name has been translated as “Daughter of the forest”. She is a Woodland Elf and is the head of the Mirkwood Elven guard.  A great female counterpart to the supernaturally cool Legolas.

13. Ursa

Ursa is a kryptionian criminal, Zod’s second-in-command, and consort whose evil will and power-lust are equal to those of General Zod’s.

Marge Gunderson is the chief of police in Brainerd, Minnesota.  What makes her so badass is the fact that she solved the mystery while being pregnant.
