The DC Extended Universe is a great series filled with potential and hopefully gains its momentum.  Next year is the Justice League‘s grand appearance on the big screen and will showcase some of DC’s finest. DC Comics has definitely created some great characters and the movies have definitely brought those characters to life.  This here is a list of my top ten favorite characters in the DC Extended Universe.  This post will not include any characters from of the tv shows (Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, etc.) and will include main cast, supporting cast, superheroes, and supervillains.

10. Faora (Man of Steel)

Portrayed by the awesome Antje Traue, Faora is General Zod’s right hand and a ruthless enforcer.  If there’s anyone who deserves to be on this list, it’s her.  She has some of the best lines in the film, some of the best moments, and even engages in one of the best superhero fights in cinema.  Not to mention Traue is just an absolutely beautiful woman which helps her character seem that much more dangerous.

9. Amanda Waller (Suicide Squad)

Portrayed by Viola Davis, Amanda Waller is the smart, manipulative, ruthless woman who’s pulling the strings behind the Suicide Squad.  If you’ve ever read the comics, Waller is just a pretty unlikable character and Davis has played strong females with a commanding presence.  She definitely has some great moments.  She forms the Suicide Squad to combat the threat of Enchantress and makes it apparent that all the members are expendable, even if she has to do it herself.

8. Doomsday (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice)

Not exactly the Doomsday from the comics, this Doomsday is a more massive behemoth with even more power.  Though it doesn’t talk, it has the one of the best defining features of a villain that I love.  And that’s because he’s straight up badass.  He’s a force of nature that’s a threat to everyone.  Fans might be mixed on the design and the powers but I think it’s the best live action incarnation of the character.

7. Joker (Suicide Squad)

A lot of people have either mixed to negative feelings about the Joker and they’re not necessary because the character’s bad, but he didn’t get the proper amount of screentime.  But I will say, Jared Leto gave me a Joker that’s an honest-to-god criminal.  Everything from the way he talked, to the way he dressed, to even the outrageous tattoos just give the character a modern look that’s believable and pretty creepy.

6. Harley Quinn (Suicide Squad)

Margot Robbie portrayed the character in Suicide Squad and damnit if she isn’t just perfect for the role.  Robbie completely nails the role with grace and skill.  Everything from her goofy outbursts to her deadly murderous attempts just emphasizes the duality of such a great character.  I’m glad the film gave a throwback to the original Harley Quinn jester-like costume design while showing how sexy she can be with the rebooted look. Definitely the highlight of the film.

5. General Zod (Man of Steel)

Portrayed by actor Michael Shannon, the DCEU has provided us with the ultimate version of the kryptonian general.  This time around, the character isn’t some narcissistic asshole who believes the world should be at his feet.  This time, he’s got a believable motivation.  He’s working towards the survival of his species and believes in getting it done by any means necessary.

4. Lois Lane (Man of Steel)

Amy Adams brings a believable strength to the character of Lois Lane.  She’s adventurous yet reserved, strong but smart.  She’s very likable and it’s easy to see why Clark likes her so much.  Adams brings a great charm that translates well onscreen.  And it doesn’t hurt that she’s absolutely hot.  It’s great seeing Adams in a superhero film and she does a great job in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

3. Wonder Woman/Diana Prince (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice )

I didn’t know much about Gal Gadot before the DCEU and I have to say that she’s awesome.  Wonder Woman is the height of female empowerment and what we see of the character is portrayed with grace.  She’s great with the action, she’s incredibly hot, and her presence rivals that of Batman and Superman.  Undoubtedly the best live action version of the character.

2. Batman/Bruce Wayne (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice)

There was a ton of backlash when it was announced that Ben Affleck would be Batman.  And I’m proud to say that the actor killed the role.  He was tough, dark, and angry.  Everything that the Dark Knight represents.  And though there’s been some controversy over the many deaths at his hands, I believe it makes the character that much more stronger and darker.

 1. Superman/Clark Kent (Man of Steel)

I don’t give a hoot what anyone says.  Henry Cavill is without a doubt the best live action Superman.  He’s a great actor giving the character something we’ve not seen since Tom Welling in Smallville.  And that’s accepting his place in a world where he’s a god amongst man.  He’s definitely got edge, and physically the actor looks chiseled from stone.
