Top 10 Best Films of 2013

This is a list of this year’s best movies of 2013.  Granted, I haven’t seen a vast majority of films but this is of my movies I watched.  This, of course, is my opinion, so anyone who doesn’t like it can jump in a bush.  Or leave me a comment for open debate. Some honorable mentions that didn’t make the list are Evil Dead, Now You See Me, Iron Man 3, Oz, the Great and Powerful, World War Z, Pacific Rim, and White House Down. So without further-a-do, here is my list of top 10 best movies of 2013.  Enjoy.

Sequel to the 2009 Star Trek, with a great cast, great acting, and amazing visuals.  Cumberbatch completely kills it as Kahn.

A great animated tale showing the broken relationship between two sisters.  This film has some really good animation, memorable songs, great chemistry.

Tom Hanks gives a powerful performance as a captain kidnapped by Somali pirates in this film.  The close quarter moments are very tense and there are great chemistry between the characters.

#5 – 42

Really good film detailing the story of Jackie Robinson played by Chadwick Boseman.  Harrison Ford gives a great performance.  Really intense action scenes.

#4 – Flu

This is a surprisingly well-written and well-directed film.  The story explores the struggles of humanity not only against the epidemic ravaging the citizens but also the morale choices of other humans.

Ender's Game

#3 – Ender’s Game

Director: Gavin Hood

Great adaptation with some of the best character development.  Very good performances and a spectacular ending.

Now these last two were incredibly hard for me to decide.  I really enjoyed them both.  Both have some really good acting, great dialogue, and great chemistry among the cast.  There are really good action scenes great stories and are sequels.  These two films I rated as “Too Cool For Words” and will definitely buy them on DVD.

The Hunger Games Catching Fire

#2 – The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Director: Francis Lawrence

This film was better than the first.  Jennifer Lawrence is a total badass as Katniss.  The characters were really cool, the action was amped up, a story that dives deeper into the mechanizations of the world.

The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug

#1 – The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Director: Peter Jackson

Continues the adventures of Bilbo and the dwarves,   Has some of the best action scenes, great dialogue, really good visuals, and great shots.  Smaug was completely badass, he was menacing and witty.  Martin Freeman kills it as Bilbo.
